Indicator purpose

Ham ADXR calculates the Welles Wilder Directional Movement components, and displays DI+, DI-, ADX, and ADXR. You may right click on the column header and select Show/Hide Plots if you do not want to display all of the values (for example, maybe display only ADX and ADXR). ADX and ADXR are color coded:

• Black on Green indicates that DI+ > DI-, ADX > DI-, and ADX >= ADXSignalLevel
• Black on DarkGreen indicates that DI+ > DI-, ADX > DI-, but ADX < ADXSignalLevel (no trend)
• White on Red indicates that DI- > DI+, ADX > DI+, and ADX >= ADXSignalLevel
• White on DarkRed indicates that DI- > DI+, ADX > DI+, and ADX < ADXSignalLevel (no trend)
• No color code indicates that there is no signal (ADX < the lower of DI- and DI+)

Settings:General

• Maximum number of bars study will reference - default is Auto-detect.
• Update on every tick - default is Checked - you may Uncheck to improve performance, but the indicator will not be recalculated until the end of the current bar.
• Load additional data for accumulative calculations - this value must be at least Length * 15.

Settings:Inputs

• ADXLength specifies how many bars back of DI+ and DI- values the ADX calculation uses.
• ADXSignalLevel specifies how large ADX (and ADXR) must be before a trend is indicated.

Settings:Alerts

This Indicator does not currently support Alerts, but that may be a feature of a future release.

Examples:

There are five possible outputs. The following RadarScreen shows an example of each. For the individual charts, the following colors were used: ADXR=Magenta, ADX=Yellow, DI+=Cyan, DI-=Red.

• Bullish (DI+ > DI- and ADX > DI-) with a trend (ADX >= ADXSignalLevel) (AMGN ADX)
• Bullish (DI+ > DI- and ADX > DI-) but no trend (ADX < ADXSignalLevel) (AMGN ADXR)
• Bearish (DI- > DI+ and ADX > DI+) with a trend (ADX >= ADXSignalLevel) (CELG ADX and ADXR)
• Bearish (DI- > DI+ and ADX > DI+) but no trend (ADX < ADXSignalLevel) (BRCM ADX and ADXR)
• Not bullish or bearish (ADX < the smaller of DI+ and DI-) (MEDI ADX and ADXR)
